Belgravia is noted for being home to many expensive properties, ranking it among the wealthiest districts not only in London, but also in the whole world.

The district of Belgravia is located in the western part of the capital, within the City of Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The district is bounded by Pimlico Road (south), Sloane Street (west), Knightsbridge (road) and Buckingham Palace Road (east) and falls within the SW1X postcode area.

Much of Belgravia, regarded as Grosvenor Estate, is owned by the family property company of the Duke of Westminster – the Grosvenor Group. It is one of the subsidiary titles of the Duke that gave its name to the area – Viscount Belgrave.

At the heart of the area lies Belgrave Square. Laid out in the 1820s, this square is among the largest and most noted 19th century squares in the capital. The initial design featured four terraces, each consisting of 11 Stucco houses.

Another notable garden square is Eaton Square, which was laid out by the Grosvenor family. Although it is larger, it is not as grand as Belgrave Square. The square’s first block was built in 1827 by Thomas Cubitt.

Chester Square is the last of the squares established by the Grosvenor family. It is named after Chester, a city near the family’s ancestral home, Eaton Hall. The garden of the square consists of shrubs and occupies an area of 1.5 acres.
